Hi, I am currently learning JS and it is very easy to learn, but the thing is: It is really hard to concentrate on the next day if I already spent the previous day learning.
How do you manage that? (especially Logan, with all that beer :D )
Btw. I am currently learning using "Codeacademy.com" , it's far better than any books I read.(Even sold most of them)
Personally as someone who is cosidered a "Professional Learner", its important to take off days, maybe have a nice cup of tea or whatever you like. Go for a walk or climb a tree and read a nice book. When I started to learn programming, I deffinately struggled a bit at times. The best way to learn really is to take breaks and read other people's code, and its important to not only read one person's.
When it comes to concentration, this can actually have a bit to do with your Physical health. In no way am I saying you're overweight, but you could be eating like someone who is. Its important to eat healthy, usually its the best way to help concentration. When programming, if I'm really trying to get something done, I close skype and have some rainymood playing because I generally calm down to that.
It really is a bit about finding what calms you down. Sometimes its just closing your eyes and clearing your mind for a bit.
Ok, so I just have to leave every second day out. And no, I'm not overweight, I am actually shredded cause I exercise alot to keep concentrated and strong.
But what food do you preffer? I only drink water, eat no sweets and a lot of bananas :D
Where can I find "good" code to learn from? Little scared to learn it the chaos way.
So when I mean take breaks, I mean when you're starting to feel overwhelmed or have a serious mental block, walks and just calm activities help. Generally I eat oranges and salad because I can grow lettuce outside my house. Good code to learn from is actually websites that are well known. If you're learning JavaScript, I'd recommend learning JQuery as well which is really well learned from the official JQuery website. CodeAcademy is good, its just sometimes hard to see how some stuff would be used in everyday usage.
You are trying to learn something and stay mentally fit throughout? I recommend more sleeping hours. The reason is REM sleep is believed to be used by the body to turn the temporary short term memories of today into long term memories. I have noticed that my need to sleep is directly related to the conversation time and material learned throughout the day. There have been days where I have done next to nothing and been wide awake with only 3 hours of sleep.
Also try www.lumosity.com. Those daily exercises seem to make you smarter.
