How do I find exactly what type of USB-C is on my laptop?

So, I’ve got a laptop of this series: https://laptopmedia.com/gb/review/hp-victus-16-16-e0000/

And it just says “USB-C displayport”.

Going to device manager tells me nothing. Google is unsurprisingly bad at instructions for this.

Only thing I can say is, when I’m copying files onto it from my C drive, it tops off at 250MB/s

But I don’t know for sure what the bottleneck there is.

I’m kinda hoping to put a 10G ethernet adapter on this, and getting faster transfer speeds from my NAS.

But for that I need details on this USB-C port and I can’t find anything…

No need to dig through device manager and lookup controller IDs. All the specs are available on HP’s website here. Just choose ‘Product Specifications’ from the drop-down menu and select your model.

I clicked on a few of them and all said 5Gbps but check your specific product number

1 SuperSpeed USB Type-C® 5Gbps signaling rate (DisplayPort™ 1.4, HP Sleep and Charge); 1 SuperSpeed USB Type-A 5Gbps signaling rate (HP Sleep and Charge); 2 SuperSpeed USB Type-A 5Gbps signaling rate;

Ah geez.

Thanks for that.

Now to look for USB to RJ45 adapters that actually list the RJ45 speed.
