I think booting into linux might be the easiest option... then do the switch..

Rename your explorer.exe to explorer.exe.old
Just like that, with .old it will tell windows it is old and needs to be replaced, upon rebooting it will make you a new one.
He dosnt need a new one, I think he wants to put in a modified one
Right, if he wants to do that, you can do what I said. Put .old at the end, put in the new one after closing explorer.exe in the task manager, and reboot.

And if he shuts explorer down, how can he THEN rename it? lul
and if he does renames it, how can he replace it when there is no explorer open to put it in :D

that's how i tried to delete explorer.exe before =P
but no i think the Ubuntu option would be better

could you tell me the cmd command? i can't for the love of me get the liveCD working.

i have a slight dilemma... the DVD was burned correctly, and it does autorun just fine in windows, but the bios just skips it even though its set to boot from it.
