How can I record PC gameplay without loss of FPS?

Hello,

I have recordered some PC game play before in the past using FRAPS but it always reduced the FPS by near half. Is there any other software I can use to record gameplay without losing FPS or only losing a little bit of FPS.

I would love to start recording sessions I have on DayZ, Planetside 2, Far Cry 3 ect. I don't mind paying for the software as long as its not to expensive.

No not really you're asking the impossible. The better your CPU and GPU, the better your computer will handle it.

Fraps is terrible for recording. Try something like Dxtory or PlayClaw and configure them properly. Also using a dedicated hard drive just for recording helps.

Yeah, I have an i7 2600K overclocked to 4.6Ghz and two GTX 580s in SLI and FRAPS still blows. I've heard Camtasia is really good, but it's pretty pricy unless you can get your hands on it through a third party >.>

You need a separate, dedicated harddrive for recording.

Here's a video that demonstrates what happens when you use a dedicated drive with fraps but it's the same idea for any recording software.

Camtasia is meant for recording your display for tutorials, demos etc. and not for capturing gameplay.

I have an i5 2500K @3.3Ghz, GTX 470 and can easily record 720p/1080p with minimal FPS loss with Dxtory.

Don't get camtasia, the qualtiy is shit. Dxtory is the most customizable, you can pick your codecs, etc. If you want no performance drop, look into this. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16815100100&Tpk=avermedia%20live%20gamer

Another PLUS ONE for Dxtory! I can record 1080p videos in game and hardly notice the fps hit. I don't notice it at all if I'm not actually watching the fps counter haha

Um...the fact that it's recording your screen means you can record whatever you want with it. You can still record gameplay, lol.

well you know?... you could always do....

put a camera in front of your screen and record that way :P

just make sure if your screen is 1080p and your camera is too. LINE THEM UP JUST RIGHT! :D:D:D:D:D:D

The Camtasia codec isn't very good at recording gameplay.

That avermedia capture card looks pretty bad ass! I'm gonna look in to that :D

External Capture Card. Something like an Elgato Game Capture HD, plug it into your video loop and hook it up to an external or separate HDD. You should see no footprint on your system, it'll capture in full HD and if you do your editing ona  different machine it can save those files there. It's also my understanding that cards like this offer built in streaming so you no longer need to fiddle with OBS or pay for xsplit.

Bandicam!

Trust me dude, as someone who has been using capture cards and software for years get the Avermedia. If you can't afford that, get Dxtory. End of story.
