How can I extract the Office 2010 product key from non-bootable hard drive?

My friend's laptop recently went out due to a motherboard failure. We can't boot up from the hard drive because I'm guessing it's an OEM installation and the laptops drivers are causing a blue screen.

Is there any way to boot up the hard drive on another computer?

If not, is there a way to extract the product key from the Registry?

I've tried ProduKey and KeyFinder but neither shows me results. ProduKey shows up blank and KeyFinder displays an error stating it cannot locate the registry in the hard drive. My friend would really appreciate being able to keep Office 2010 and not have to buy a new copy. Any help is greatly appreciated!

easy way - hdd into a caddy or another system. then use

MagicJellyBean - grabs other serials as well if you need em. Or there is a utility on the Hirens Boot CD.

I can't boot the hard drive on another computer, because it's an oem installation with the laptops drivers that cause it to crash.

You don't boot from that hard drive, you boot from another system and read the contents of the hard drive as you would from any other external drive.
