I have a humble PC, a haswel i5 4690k and an RX480. I realize I might not be able to actually process it myself, so I’m wondering if there’s a reasonably priced (and hopefully not too too complex) option for me to purchase processing power through amazon or similar service.
It doesn’t necessarily have to even be very good, it’s more for comedic purposes than anything else.
I don’t know if Linode is still doing a promotion with L1 but, I have a Linode four core, 8GiB RAM session that is the most affordable by far compared to the competition.
Depends on time too, I have seen pretty good ones done on a GTX 1070, the more time they run for and more information to source from they better they will be.
I am curious though, what are you up to.
I am pretty sure there is code on Github for doing your own.
I agree. You can find source code on Github. I highly recommend downloading a tool and trying it out on your hardware. You’ll get a pretty good idea how to do it and how long it might take within a weekend of tinkering.
if you dont have a gpu with ai routines. (20/30 series) your pretty much wasting your time. it will take months to get acceptable results and a quick and dirty render will take 20-48 hours for a 10-30 second clip. and the end results… well lets say you could probably do better cutting and pasting each frame by hand.
with ai the same task will take a couple of hours. which is way sweeter on the electricity bill
then there’s the requirements you need 2 clips with comparable faces in them. with the more exaggerated the expressions the easier they are to map. then you have to go through the frames selecting the best images and removing the bad renders.
all told on a 970gtx it took 4 days to render a 12 second clip. 4 days at pretty much 350w and hour… yep i got a shock when i saw how much it cost. and it was GARBAGE! if im honest.
anyways have fun if your gonna give this a go.
