How long will the death of blackberry be drawn out? Its just getting silly. Surely there is no hope for them.

They're staying alive with BBM, and literally just BBM and the Canadian Government.
The Canadian Government gives them money, I believe, and they aren't making half as much as they did a few years ago, but being a company that is now flopping on the hardware and being pushed into an app dev company and support for old hardware, they're doing considerably well.
Their loss isn't whats important to them right now, it's getting themselves re-instated as a major messaging app dev, and with how BBM works and the infrastructure they have behind it, they're going to easily sustain with that. Especially since BBM is being used now on pretty much all devices, old Blackberry phones (majorly in India and second hand "first cell phones" for 10-12 year olds in many areas). BBM is still one of the most trusted messaging platforms within businesses, just as the older Blackberry phones were (and in some cases still are) many companies work phones.
Blackberry isn't going away any time soon.
I wish RIM had forked android in an open-source secure-droid platform, maybe by adding a really good MAC (Mandatory_access_control) kernel module to android. With a compatibility layer for their old BlackberyOS apps.
Hm. I have to say. Before touchscreens, that little ball was fun to play with.
>That ball was fun to play with.
>Playing with little balls.
No regerts.
I wonder the same thing about twitter. Such huge loss of money, yet no real explanation of how it's possible to lose so much. Surely, any business, given their situation, would make cuts in order to meet a lower demand for a product. At least try to reduce operating cost in some way to prevent such catastrophic loss. Although, I can't really say I didn't see a huge loss coming, I expected blackberry to lose out on a lot of money. Just not this majorly, it's almost ludicrous.
