…but with physical power switches for each drive. The dumb idea behind this is to make swappable/ selectable boot drives. Put them first and second in boot order, switch off* the one I don't want, hit the power button.
If there's something simpler, I'd like to hear it, too.
bios boot hotkey. "press F{something} to choose boot device". set up each OS on it's own drive on the correct sata port without the others plugged in, then plug them all in and boot up, using that hotkey to choose which drive and therefore os to boot.
Yeah, I've done this too. Looking for something I can "just do" when I hit the power button. (Also —and I know this doesn't affect your suggestion— the reason I'm looking at a bay is that one of these drives might need to travel from time to time.) Thanks, though!
The older IDE type of bays with a lock/key used the lock to secure the caddy but also to switch power to the drive, the picture here looks like it might do the same just without the caddy.
I actually have a single bay device with a switch, though Im so sick at the moment Im bedridden. later today or tomorrow when im doing better ill get up and find the model number for you. im disabled on disability, normal for me, so please don't bother to go oh im sorry for you or whatever, only mentioning this because it is pertinent here, in that its delaying me doing something for you.
