Hot Cards?

Why do GPUs run so much hotter than a cpu? GPUs seem to run at lower clock speeds than most CPU's and can idle at pretty high temps. I am just curious as to why they do this

well the CPU is the processing chip, that's it. With GPU's, you have the processing unit, the memory, the vregs, and the mosfets, all on one board. Im not sure if that is why they run hotter, but it would make sense to me.

because its like a an entire motherboard in one little package

really? is there any good diagrams of what a graphics card layout is like? I mean I can see the ram modules and the GPU but the rest of it is a mystery to me
