So as the title reads, I'm looking to build a server. Probably not a tradional server, more like a cheap PC I can use to host my Minecraft server on. So all I know is that it's going to need a good bit of RAM. Have any of you ever done a build like this before? Can I get away with using Linux as an OS to keep the price down? Also, I'd like to put an Avermedia capture card in it for streaming/recording. I'm also guessing that since I'll be using an Avermedia I will only need a cheap GPU. Also, storage isn't a huge issue because I don't have a lot of stuff to store anyway. Any suggestions? Tips? I'd like to keep it within $200-$300 price range as well. Feel free to leave any part lists you come up with!

install ubuntu onto that ssd and you should be good!
I have an A8-3870K that I got free from @AMDGaming, I might just sub that in with an FM1 board. That would put the price at like $200
If running APU systems, please try and stick with FM2 xD
Yeah but it will not be used for gaming.
You know, the £35 Celeron processors will happily run a Minecraft server. Is this for you and your friends, or for some big server with a lot of people on at once. I'd say the Celeron will happily run around 15 Men at once.
Mainly for me and my friends, but eventually more. Though if I ever get 50+ people on it regularly I'll just rent one. Keep in mind, I want to stream and record with this PC as well.
