Hi all,
I`m here for a while, but haven`t posted anything worthy... so lets change that a bit.
My job is 3D modeling, design and visualisations and for that I need alot of CPU power.
My workstation is more then enough for modeling and smaller renderings, but when it comes to something more complicated, or animations... I simply need more power.
First idea was to get the strongest possible CPU, but after some thought I realized that for the price of top CPU I can build two or even three computers with cheap and weak components, except the CPUs (AMD 8 cores).
OK, idea was there, but what would be the easiest and upgadeable way to put them together, and not to spend alot of money... and get something unique, attractive and practical.
My designing kicked in and result was a wooden (or any other material) case that is made out of three mayor components:
1. bottom - main power goes into it, it has 4 intake fans with filters on bottom.
2. central part - houses all the components and gets power from bottom part via male-female connestors on the upper/lover edge of each segment. All components are on a drawer like rails for easy access.
3. top - finishes power circle and has 2 exhaust vents
The usefull bit is the fact that you can place how many central parts as you wish.. .and each one is a separate computer.
Case dimensions with two central parts are: 610mm height, 375mm width and 460mm depth.
Here are some renderings so you can see what am I talking about :)
If anyone is interested in building this, I`ll send them my 3D files... for a beer :)
