For the past few months I have been struggling quite a bit with a hone freenas that I am trying to setup and use mostly for mass storage as well as my default windows directories.
The problem is that EVERY time I am making a file transfer of several GB the system crashes and either reboots or requires a hard reset to operate "normally" again.
There are some symbolic links that point to folders that do not exist. Hence, the whole "Something exists, but it is not a folder". Making the folders should sort the problem.
Are you running the latest version of FreeNAS? Might be worth grabbing a fresh ISO.
Unfortunately my case is not the same with the person from the other thread, since in my installation the directories, files etc. are all where they are supposed to be (at least according to the shell). On the other hand I am having the exact same error, which makes no sense since the direcotry does exist.
well I just rebooted the computer and I saw multiple (different) errors as it was booting up, so I think I will just make a clean install and see what errors I get (if any) after. I think its a bit safer.
Do you think there is any chance these errors are occurring due to hardware problems, even though they are not reported?
I don't think so, seem to be more setup issues. A fresh install with the latest update should be fine. I am running the latest update at home no worries. I have been incrementally upgrading since 9.3, and have had a few minor issues along the way that required rolling back.
Sometimes, after an upgrade, FreeNAS hangs after booting. I usually hit the rest button and its fine after that.
So finally I finished making a fresh install and unfortunately the problems are still there.... Now in the startup the console is displaying the message that: GTP partition table is corrupt and so it is using the second gtp partition table. I recreated the gtp partition tables on all HDD's through a live ubuntu installation and gparted.
I honestly do not know what it could be. The HDD's work flawlessly under windows or Linux, it is only when I try to copy files in freenas that the entire system halts and eventually crashes...
