Home assistant setup

I just setup home assistant and so far have my phone connected. I know this comes off as a loaded question but, what’s the next thing I should do?

I have a few smart plugs connected. I also wonder if anyone has had any luck connecting ONN branded Roku TV and Roku stream devices and if there was any difficulty setting up? Thanks in advance.

If you have things that you want to manage in HA, then see if they can be discovered, or manually configure you configuration.yaml to point to them.

I have mostly smart lights, switches, dimmers, and plug in mine, but there is also the router and printer info as well. We have ours integrated with the Google speakers in the rooms so that we can voice command what we need as well as use the Text to speech for intercom (You can also use the feature directly with Google home but it does not do language translation).

The world is pretty much your oyster.

If you have the type of smart plugs that log power usage, set up the Energy panel and have Homeassist track energy usage.
Done that and found it to be quite insightful.

Okay I’ll be looking in to that when I get time. One piece at a time. This is becoming exciting!!!

Keep that energy. Monitoring this stuff can be very helpful if you are looking to change how you run your house. If you are trying to reduce energy use, prepare to have you mind blown by how much you actually waste in a day. Sometimes turning things off saves bunches while justifying 10 seconds of inconvenience.
