Just got my PC up and running now for about a 2, 3 days. But I notice some troubling readings on my CPU temps not OCed.
So I replaced the OG fans on the h100i with the quiet edition from corsair so that might be a factor. Will put the OG fans again tomorrow and test again.
So on to the question I have my CPU runing at 38 - 40 C at idle.
In games and such I have not seen it spike above 70 C. But on prime95 I get to 90 C in 5 minutes. I replaced the OG thermal paste once due to me being new and touching it by accident. Replaced it with Arctic Silver 5+ and did it according to the rule just a small dab in the center and led it spread out but no change, I did it a second time and still same temps.
I recon you just have a warm CPU. Some are warm and some are cool. My 4770k at 4.5 idles at 33 average peak 65. Running an h110. Maybe remount as mistery said. Make sure its vertical as thats the direction of the chip and make sure you havent got the fans the wrong way. If you have them sucking air into the case and not enough exausts then you could be baking your system
anon might be right about you having a warm CPU but IDK if the I7s are particularity known for that I always associate that with AMD myself.
I notice you have a closed loop Corsair H100i 77.0 CFM Liquid CPU Cooler I have a similar product (from cooler master) in my PC. I have to say that there is some funny things about these things They don't seem to properly control the fans on the radiator. On my MOBO no matter what the the PC always registered 0 RPM even when hooked up correctly. I think this has to do with the fact that the controller was split between the 2 radiator fans but who knows running just one fan didn't seem to make a difference for me. You might try switching to the Molex power adapter rather than the fan header power connecter. This will cause the fans to run on full all the time but might solve your Heat problem.
