I'm been doing ALOT of reasearch into a build I'm going to do some time soon. I have been looking at all types of cooling solutions. However I have a hard time trying to find the proper/ideal case fan for me for good static preassure and great airflow. Can anyone give me some recommendations please?
with fans its airflow or static pressure not both if they are for a case as you already said you dont need that much sp (static pressure) unless your case is extremly crammed full of stuff so if the fans you need is 120mm size the corsair af fans are good high quality fans and they look good too
High static pressure is completely useless for case fans.
You need static pressure for radiators and dense heatsinks. The pressure allows air to flow a lot more easily through complex structures like a heatsink/radiator.
Which usually means better cooling.
For case fans however, high CFM is much better the high static pressure. ur not pushing air across complex structures, u are pushing air in a dead space. CFM is much more important.
for case fans, best attributes you should be concerned about are CFM and low dB (be careful how they measure noise, some report their min dB some their max, some their optimum...)
new fans are all about static pressure, which isnt what u need. Just avoid fans without dynamic fluid bearings and get fans with high CFM and low dB :)
the corsair AF series fans would work well, DONT get the SP series for case fans their made more for radiators and things with restricted air flow, since u said case fans i assume your talking about a more open air enviroment theirfore the AF series would work well for u
So, would you recommend using Corsair SP fans if you mount them in the front of the case because of the blockage of the hard drive bays? I need to replace my CM HAF 922 case fans and I'd rather get some quality 120mm fans, but the hard drive bay is not removable and I only use about 2 out of the 5 bays, but since the whole cage is steel and has a lot of covering, would a SP fan work better there?
Quick question on some fans on my case. Been looking at the Corsair AF/SP 120MMs I have an Antec P280, with a front panel door, when closed has only air coming in through the edges of the door
I know the SP fans are better designed for heatsinks and radiators, just wondering if they would be viable in in this case's situation vs the AF fans when the front panel is closed, been looking around and getting different answers... just trying to figure out what the best option would be for front intake fans.
SP fans in the front, because they're being blocked by lots of shit like the harddrive cage and harddrives, dunno why Zwan would think a harddrive cage is dead space.
AF fans in the back or well anywhere where there's nothing or just a fan grill impeding airflow.
I don't necessarily mean Corsair SP/AP fans, though.
Silverstone Air Penetrators are great for SP
Noctua NF-series are great for SP
Corsair SP, of course, are great SP fans as well.
Also try to keep positive air pressure in your case. More (filtered!) intake than exhaust.
