High-End Workstation Build

Well to start I'm rather new here, I've actually followed Tek Syndicate for a long time now, to the point of checking the channel every other day or so for new videos. I love the way your videos are done as well as how you guys tend to touch on the more obscure topics that aren't covered quite as well as they should be.

Anyway I thought I'd seek some advice on my next PC build, this one being a workstation for college and eventually my career if everything works out. My maximum budget is $4,500, I'd prefer to keep it below that if possible though.

This PC will be used for:

  • Video Editing and Rendering
  • Graphic Design (Photoshop, Illustrator, etc)
  • Software Development (General and Game Dev Oriented)
  • 3DS Max Modelling and Rendering
  • Media Consumption and Gaming

So far the parts I have in mind are:

  • Intel Core i7 4930k
  • 32GB G.Skill Ripjaws X @1600MHz (4x8GB)
  • ASUS PX79-E WS Workstation Motherboard
  • 2x ASUS GTX 780 Direct CU II in SLI
  • Intel 530 Series 240GB SSD (Boot and Core Software)
  • 2x WD Raptor 1TB (One for Games and Software, another for Video and other Media)
  • Corsair H100i Liquid Cooler
  • Corsair Obsidian 750D Case
  • Corsair RM1000 1Kw PSU

Considering the cost of this kind of hardware, I do not plan to do any sort of extreme overclocking, I'll likely bump things up a bit if needed, but nothing extreme. This build will also be driving 3 1080p monitors if that's of any concern.

The build I have now is great but just can't keep up with the workload that I've started to put on it as I get closer to college next year. Not to mention it's showing signs of age, I've already had to replace the RAM that was there for 3 years and have had to replace the old Radeon HD 4870 that was in there for a long time.

I've built a few computers before, but since this one is going to cost quite a bit and probably be in use for 5+ years, I figured I'd seek advice from some real experts on this topic. Seeing as though a lot of people here do the kinds of things that I'll be doing with this build.

Thanks for any advice!
