Im also in the market for a monitor, (i don't have one) a mouse and keyboard. Nothing fancy, i like that new keyboard Logan just showed, and i like the mouse from the same company. Im open to suggestions though.
Please and thank you :)
Looks like a pretty solid build. If you plan on overclocking your processor, I'd look into an aftermarket heatsink. I'm rocking a Cooler Master Hyper 212 Evo with 2 Blademaster 120's on it and it's quiet and COOOOL. Definitely shop around, though. Never know what you might find on sale.
As for the monitor, do you prefer more accurate color reproduction or higher refresh rates (eg, higher than 60hz/60fps)? If you want a monitor that's fast as lightning, the Asus VG248QE is excellent, but be warned that the colors ARE an issue. IMO, it's worth the tradeoff if you play FPS games a lot and are capable of pulling more than 60fps.
alright thank you for looking it over. :)
I thin colors are more important to me i don't want to spend more than $170 on it though. I don't really play fps's so refresh rate isn't really a big deal to me.
i don't really plan to over clock either, the noise of the stock fan doesn't bother me. :P

saves you $50
and without loosing ANY performance
if you really dont want to o.c.

saves $160 for getting a non o.c able i5 @ 3.0 ghz, a cheaper case, and better deal on ram.
your links dont show aything :(
edit: they're good now haha thank you!
thats a lot of money being saved, i think ill go with the $150 less on but ill switch out the cases, because i really like the MIDI :P
if you're getting a k processor you need to get a z87 mothboard, otherwise just get the non k varient
I love it much cheaper, and it fits my needs!
I just oredered it :)
and yeah i switched out Mobo's .
this is what id suggest for peripherals
http://pcpartpicker.com/p/2fMy7
its a cheap 1920x1080 monitor, a pretty decent 2500 dpi mouse for $10, and a great keyboard.
yeah i switched it out :)
I only suggest switching the Motherboard out if the one you found is cheaper, because that cpu will do just fine on a z87 board
ah no im using your build, :P
The 280X is out of stock :( do you guys recommend anything else?
Yeah, all the higher end AMD cards are out of stock. I've heard that they had some manufacturing issues, or that Bitcoin miners purchased all of em because they're great mining cards for the price.
If you can find an HD 7970 for the same price, go for it.
Else, you might have to settle with a GTX 770/780.
I'm looking into starting my second build, did a lot of guess work on the first one. Do you recommend choosing a processor first and building off that, or picking out a mother board first?
dunno where this came from but ok.
Decide on both. Decide if and when you want to upgrade, and how far you want to upgrade to.
If you have something like an FX-8350 with a cheap 960fx chipset, that'd be terrible.
Likewise, if you have an FX-4150 with some ASUS Sabertooth mobo with a 990fx chipset, that'd be a waste as well.
Try to balance out the level of the motherboard along with the level of the CPU.
