Herocraft DDOS'd by a moron in Brazil

Wanted to share this with the TekSyn community-

So there's this guy, spunkiiez. He runs a big, apparently terrible server in Brazil called Craftlandia. And there's this other guy, Kainzo. He runs a big, high-quality server called Herocraft. He also heads a team of plugin developers. Spunkiiez gets impatient waiting for the team to update a plugin (HeroChat, it's pretty widely used).

Spunkiiez goes postal.

He's DDOS'd Kainzo's jenkins server, Herocraft's servers, TeamSpeak, and forums (he can't seem to disable the last of these). This has been going on for nearly 3 days solid. Now he's also onto Kain's home internet connection. This is in addition to flailing around on his keyboard trying to bother Kain and trying to build distrust in the community.

This is't the first time he's tried to do this kind of thing, though- apparently he wants to be the #1 server in the world. To achieve that goal, he disables servers and harasses admins until he has no competition. Kainzo and the HC community are doing all they can to deal with the situation, with the ultimate goal of stopping this guy cold. He's distributing hacked clients for Minecraft so Mojang is involved, and they're trying to talk to ISPs and colo hosts and the FBI about mitigating the DDOS attack and shutting spunkiiez down.

So that's the spiel. It's a great server with awesome staff and a dedicated community that is on the recieving end of an online temper tantrum. If any of y'all folks want to help out (or just want to follow the drama) I'd encourage you to check out the links.

Now, I hope this is a good spot for this thread. :P

One more link, this one to the Minecraft forums.

So not only is this Brazilian guy distributing hacked clients and killing off other people's servers, he's making a butt-tonne of money doing it. And Brazil has nearly nonexistent regulation against this sort of activity so he's getting away with it. Herocraft's only hope of silencing this guy is to get US authorities and the whole Minecraft community on the case. If we can't totally shut spunkiiez and Craftlandia down, Kain will just focus on getting the server back up. But this could be an epic victory- we could free a whole country (of Minecraft players) from (online) tyranny!

Reading it over, I kinda wrote like I was putting this up on a Minecraft-specific community, but I think there's some overlap and every little bit of awareness helps.
