I'm building a new PC.
Here's my specs :
  1. Gigabyte GeForce GTX 660 "OC"
  2. MSI Z77A-G43
  3. NZXT. Tempest 410 Elite
  4. G.Skill PC3-12800 "RipJawsX" KIT 8192 MB
  5. Intel® Core™ i5 3570K "Unlocked"
  6. OCZ Vertex 3 120GB
  7. Cooler Master "Gamer Xtreme" 650W
  8. CPU cooler: hyper 212 evo

I have a storage drive already. The gtx 660 is about as good as a 7870 but better at games like BF3, Portal 2 and other source games, but what do you think? Should I get the hd 7870?
I'm open for suggestions.

I have a 7870 and with the new 12.11 drivers I think the 7870 is bettter than the 660 for bf3. I can run a ultra and  get 60 fps constant.

I live in Slovenia. The Saphire 7870 is the cheapest one costing 222 euros.

How old is the performance test? The new 12.11 beta drivers incresed bf3 performance by alot. I have the sapphire version of the 7870 and have never had an issue.  The free games are far cry3 and the new medal of honor.

I'm totaly getting the hd7870. Does it overclock well?

I have not overclocked mine because I get the fps I need. I play on a 76hz monitor and get the framerate I need.

I play bf3 with alot of that shit turned down except mesh quality because i play better.

I have played it on ultra and it runs really well  on the vinilla maps. The close corter maps you will see a framerate dip those maps are poorly optimized.

I'm only thinking of playing at high or auto settings, but mostly on low and medium. What fps do you get?

And also do you play TF2 or Just cause 2. I would love some fps because Just cause 2 for me is like Skyrim for most people.

Just for you I will pause my steam downloads and play a around of bf3 on high settings.

Ok on high settings I was getting on average 85-90 fps. Lowest fps was 73. Highest I saw was 118. My steam username is j1mjames

I join a tdm server late and played for only five minutes.
