I just built a friends PC and then we were using it perfectly fine for a while. Then he wanted me to overclock it a little, so I did. But now when we turn it on, the computer won't even post. So we cant get into the bios and fix it. We are using an FX 8320E on an MSI 970 Gaming motherboard. Can anyone help?
you could do a bios reset.
Most likely, something went wrong with your overclock settings.
By which @MisteryAngel means either reset the CMOS with a button if there is one or pull the motherboard battery, flat circular watch battery, and hard reset the bios to factory. Of course with the PC unplugged. Usually recommended that you leave it out foe a few seconds 10-30 and hold down the power button when it is out to fully drain all power.
Have you tried unplugging, disconnecting the power supply from the mobo and stuff and popping the battery out of the motherboard for a few minutes? Is the overclocking shit stored in some kind of secondary memory? I dunno...
Does the PC have an internal speaker? No beep codes? Have you tried checking the powersupply connections to the motherboard?
What did you overclock?
The MSI 970 doesn't have a full range of overclocking features, like Load Line Calibration. If you tried to push too hard, too quickly, without making sure that you were feeding it enough juice, the system might have hiccuped.
Clearing the CMOS should do the trick, like other said.
If not... the excrementation has hit the oscillation.
