Help!

Everytime i turn on my pc just turns on for a few seconds but dosent post, then it goes off. And repeats. I'm pretty sure it isnt my ram, so it must be either my motherboard (MSI Z77A-G45) or my cpu (i5-3470). Please reply fast so i can RMA

well what do you mean by ''it doesnt post'' well it could be either the RAM,GPU,MOBO or the bios. BTW does it beep more then once before it shuts down?

well, i dont have a mobo speaker so i cant hear the beep. And what i mean when it dosent post is that it does  not show anything on the screen at all.

Do the fans spin? Try unplugging everything but cpu,cpu heatsink, ram, video to monitor and power. Try it with just the basics to see if it posts to the bios

First of all check if you have use risers and the board is not touching the case or any metal. then check if the CPU is secured down properly, there are no dirt or anything in the cpu socket, the heat sink is secured with sufficient thermal paste, the RAM is connected properly. the two power connectors are connected to the board properly. Let me know if any of this helps or we can go further

fans spin, and i did everything both of you have said and nothing has changed. Its not like i just built the computer i built a few months back and it was working fine

When you first turn on the system can you get into your bios?

This happened to me on my last build when I wandered into unknown lands.

Was messing with bios and activated something. Afterwards my computer would start up, fans would run for 2 seconds, then everything would reset and continued to repeat. Called ASUS and they believed it was DOA mobo until I looked online, simply resetting the cmos by removing the mobo battery and putting it back fixed everything for me.

hmmm.... sounds interesting, i will try it and see if it works before i RMA it to msi. i cant do it until a few days, i will keep you posted.

nope it only turns on for a few seconds. Thats why i said it dosent post.

Hmm... just as Kelvin suggested, try resetting the bios, I would unplug everything before i reset it e.g Hard drive, Optical drive, anything connected to the board or USB ports, except the keyboard.. If you have a graphics card, try it without the card. try with one RAM at a time (if you have multiple), if you got a spare power supply, try with that. dont change everything at once, try one thing at a time. its just alot of things can cause it. Bad RAM, bios, Power supply, peripherals, CPU, finally the Board. So best is to take eveything off, leaving the RAM keyboard and power supply. if it works plug one thing at a time. if not, reset the bios, swap RAM's, power supply (if possible)
