I have had this laptop that wasn't the best to start with when i got it. it was very good when i first got it, and that was when i though farmville was a legit game. now after about 4 years it has slown down immensely and i need to speed it up. Any help? Keep in mind im 15 with almost no money so buying a new pc is out of the question though i want to.
Ok so if you are like most people who generally arnt the greatest at computers (assuming you know a little the fact your on this website xD) but assuming when you go onto websites theirs always a fake download button in an ad (unless your using ad block) and if you download it and run it well you get malware and malware can make a huge impact on performance. And what os are you running on? If its XP I know that just gets slow over time not too shure why. If you dont want to get too technical just wipe your hard drive and save all of your personal stuff on a usb or something.
And sometimes its just a bunch of programs on your start up that can make loading into windows a real pain
Ccleaner can get rid of a lot of crap from your computer. Try that its really good! Make sure to also clean up your autostart.
If you are using xp your could also just reinstall the os (format disk before that). That should help your pc a lot.
If you are looking for a better performance outside games,m get an SSD. It is not going to speed up your cpu or gpu but it will make a huge difference because it is much faster than your HDD
I do know a little about computers :D but yea im running windows 7 home premium. all last night i left my laptop on to defragment the disk which i have heard helps though i have never seen an improvement in performance. i don't believe i have any male ware but you never know.
i have ccleaner but every time i use it it wipes all my passwords and its kind of a pain to redo them all but i might be worth it though i have never seen a significant improvement in performance from clearing files. i would like an ssd but they are expensive right now and i don't have a lot of money to spend on upgrades.
and just in case you guys are going to recommend it i use razer game booster and it does help a little but after that there isn't much more i can do.
Try downloading and running the free version of MalwareBytes.
^^^^
i downloaded malware bytes and ran a scan that took almost 2 hours :D it found 46 files that it thought were malicious. after that i tried the game that i am having troubles with (sniper elite: Nazi zombies army) and saw a little improvement but the fps was still way below playable. i just think that my hardware cannot run it but still thanks for the help.
What are the specs of your laptop?
I looked at your specs on your profile. Im sorry i think your laptop is under powered all i can say is my crapbook has similar specs and it struggles at killingfloor and minecraft. If you want to play more games you will need a better pc or find lower end games. try Quake/Unreal Tournament.
Performance wise there is nothing you can do - just enjoy low settings and indy games. Save up your pennies and buy a gaming rig later on.
the only thing you could do right now is put in fast ram. seeing that your laptop comes standard with 2 gbs of ram and supports up to 8 gbs. It won't really speed it up by much so your better off saving some money to buy the parts for a decent build.
