Help with setting up ram

So may new rig is up and running..I did notice that the ram is set at 1333...I am a total newbie and I understand that I have to set this up manually but I am totally lost as to how to set the timing and voltage I see how to set the Frequency but don't get how to set up:

CAS#Latency

RAS# to CAS

RAS# to Precharge

tRAS

tRC

and which voltage needs to be chaged

I would love to understand where these numbers come from...

love learning new things and this old dude just wants to show his grandson that a built computer is way better than buying one at a superstore

Parts:

AMD 8350 black edtion

Sabertooth 990FX R2.0

G.SKILL Ripjaws X Series 16GB (2 x 8GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 2133 (PC3 17000) Desktop Memory Model F3-2133C9D-16GXH <<<

MSI Radon R9 280x gaming 3g

250 ssd and 3 tb SATA

corsair 500r case and h100i

750 power supply

I'm pretty sure the 8350 only natively supports up to 1866 so you would have to oc the cpu bus to get the rated speed which still might not happen and not something I would suggest if you're using the stock cooler on the cpu.  Honestly the difference you're going to see even if you would get it up to 2133 isn't going to be noticeable for the most part.  BTW you should run builds by people before you buy stuff they could save you a few bucks b/c higher speed ram in anything other than maybe an apu build is throwing money away for what most people do.

I have the same board btw and if you go into advance settings(once you get into the bios) you will see dram  voltage down the page and all the sub menus to manually set timings etc.  You can try setting the memory freq to 2133 and see what happens it will most likely lower it down to 1866 if you attempt to manually set it.  The only other thing I would worry about setting up manually is seeing the dram voltage is set to what is advertised which is most likely 1.5 or 1.6v other than that you should be good.  By and large if you don't plan on ocing letting everything at auto will generally be fine and any tweeks you make will most likely be negligible at best.

thanks for the reply... I did change and works great.. I'm hoping to learn more and do some OC later I realize I have a lot to learn but they say you are never to old. so all advice is still welcome

Guess I got really confused ad lost... I did see this before I built and chose to come as close to building it

Yeah I'm honestly not sure why he got that ram(it was probably left over from another build) but now ram has shot up in price so you need to be a little more picky where as before you could almost max out your board and it wouldn't be that much of a price difference but now its pretty huge.

Although I do lean more towards the AMD side of things I don't really like Logans videos on the intel vs amd stuff because yeah like in the vid amd does better for streaming and really multithreaded programs but honestly outside of editing and streaming you won't really see much software that will utilize the full potential of the amd which is really its only strength (multi threaded apps) as it's single core performance is pretty bad.  So if you're just going to mostly game and not much else go intel (you will see a slight increase in games but also every other non threaded program which is most), but if you plan on making a ton of vids and streaming a lot go amd it will serve you well.
