HELP WITH PC BUILDING, and stuff

I don't know what motherboard to for my AMD FX6300 Black Edition 6 Core (3.5/4.1GHz, 8MB Level 3 Cache, 6MB Level 2 Cache, Socket AM3+, 95W. Help me i dont want to spend too much money on it and i might get a another gtx 770 in sli so yah... HELP ME

Budget?

M5A99X R2.0 Pro would be my consideration for SLI. If you haven't purchased the 6300, you might consider the 8320

If you want a cheaper option, the M5A97 R2.0 is sufficient for the 6300, but not the 8xxx CPUs. It does not have support for SLI. A single 770 should be sufficient, anyway. SLI configurations are problematic and consume a lot of power.

^ditto

additionally, a gtx 770 with destroy almost any game at 1080p, other than, say, a heavily modded skyrim or Crysis 3 maxed out. Plus SLI will introduce microstuttering and cooling issues. Having two powerful graphics cards smacked up against eachother is difficult to keep cool no matter how good your air flow is.

  1. Asus M5A99FX pro R2.0
  2. Asrock 990FX Fatality killer.

actually i haven't built my pc yet i just need help choosing. its actually really interesting cos i won a gtx 770 and i have a budget of only £280 to build it around that BEAST so... yah. thats that. so i wont be able to upgrade from 6300 to the fx 8xxxx cpus even if it is an am3 socket?

You'd be surprised at what you can achieve with a small budget.

It's about £25 over budget. The motherboard is the M5A97 R2.0 EVO. The EVO variant has sufficient power phases for 8xxx CPUs. However, if you get the 6300, I don't see much point upgrading that chip. The in-game performance won't change much. The 6300 is more than sufficient for gaming with the 770.

I think you should consider spending an additional £20 and get the 8320. Which would bring this to a total of £325, approximately.

Recommended upgrades:

Add additional RAM

Add an aftermarket CPU cooler - this is a must. Only has to be something cheap like the CM hyper 212 for around £25. You can use the stock cooler for a number of months. It is best to replace it ASAP.

Add an SSD. Some good, affordable 120GB options for around £60.
