Hello everyone,
This is my first thread in the forum so please bare with me if im unexperience with this kind of thing :) Thanks!
Well, soon i'll be buying a new PC (I get a new rig every 3 to 4 years so i try to get the best now so it lasts longer). What do you guys think of it? My biggest concern is the PSU. I'll be using the one on my current build but im afraid it will not be enough for the following and maybe some overclocking:
Mobo: ASUS SABERTOOTH 990FX R2.0
CPU: AMD FX-8350 (cooled by a Corsair H50)
RAM: CORSAIR Vengeance 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR3 1866; CAS 9
GPU: 2x EVGA Superclocked Signature 2 GeForce GTX 680 (is this the best gtx 680 for $469 in the market?)
HDD: Seagate Barracuda 2TB 7200RPM 6GB/s
SSD: Kingston HyperX 3K 240GB
PSU: Corsair TX750W
Case: 3R System L1200
Thanks everyone!
What are you using this system for?
Unless your going for some insane kind of resolution, the FX8350 will bottleneck 2 GTX680s in games.
I'm a kind of a PC enthuasiast, essentially gaming and work. But as i said, i want a pc for the next 3 to 4 years and I don't worry a bit about upgrading it. What about an i5 3570K together with an Asus Sabertooth Z77. Is the i7 3770k worth the extra $100?
The i5 3570K would do better in games, wouldn't do as well in heavily threaded applications. I assumed since you have 2 GTX 680s that you would be gaming mostly on this system.
Common cases are:
Lightly threaded: FX8350 < i5 3570k < i7 3770K
Heavily threaded: i5 3570K < FX8350 < i7 3770K
Theres a few things that the FX will overtake the i7 but its fairly uncommon. I don't know if its worth the extra $100, but at the same time I wouldn't say 2 GFX680s is worth the money either.
Thank you! Now, regarding the PSU. Do you think a Corsair TX750W will do the job?
I would save the cash and buy 2 Geforce GTX 670s instead, They are nearly identical in performance.
Of the 670s, I would recommend the MSi Geforce GTX 670 Power Edition.
You can then use the saved cash to get a better CPU, like a 3570k or 3770k.
A good price to peformance Intel board would be the AsRock Extreme6, it has many features that usually would be reserved for more expensive boards.
Thanks for the response. A GTX 670 SLI is indeed a better solution, i'll go with it and a i7 3770k! :D
