Help With Gaming PC?

Hey guys!

I am currently helping out my friend back in Lithuania with a brand new PC build. He wanted to buy an Alienware, but I managed to push him away from that idea (woohoo!). So currently these are the specs:

CPU: Intel Core i5-3470S, Quad Core, 2.90GHz, 6MB, LGA1155

CPU Cooler: Cooler Master cooler Hyper 412 PS

RAM: DDR3 Corsair Vengeance 8GB (2x4GB) 1866MHz CL9

PSU: CORSAIR GAMING SERIES 700W 80+ BRONZE

MoBo: ASRock Fatal1ty Z77 PERFORMANCE

HDD: Seagate 1.5TB 7200RPM 6GB/S/64MB ST1500DM003

Case: Cooler Master computer case Elite 431 black side window

GPU: ZOTAC GTX 660 Ti 2GB DDR5, 192BIT

Cheap Optical Drive

Total price - 3050Lt (~$1160) BUDGET MAX - 3200Lt (~$1212)

We now have a dillema with the MoBo and the GPU - I am not quite sure whether the MoBo is actually compatible with everything, and whether he should save a bit of money and go with an ATI 7870 or spend his remaining budget on an MSI GTX670.

Any tips on how to improve the build would be REALLY appreciated. This is going to be primarily a gaming/normal use PC, as my friend doesn't intend to do much video editing and other similar activities.

Thanks!

Intel : http://pcpartpicker.com/p/qYSU Get the saphire version though (GPU)

AMD :http://pcpartpicker.com/p/qYX0

These should not be your final build get it checked out by others and ALWAYS do some research of your own!!

The problem is that a lot of these parts aren't available where my friend lives (Lithuania), and he needs to build the PC by Christmas for his little brother as a present. I know it is a little late to start looking, but we can get the parts above in less than a week, whereas the shipping from your sites could take ages...

The only real help I need here is in picking the right MoBo, CPU and GPU; and I have narrowed those down quite a bit too...

I was also wondering whether the cooler will fit, as the DIMM sticks have their own heatsinks?

Thats build looks fine accept for the CPU, If you can get somethign other that an S version do it.

get the AMD FX6300 and upgrade the gpu to a 7870 or if he has enough a 7950 or 7970

7870 wouldn't be much of an upgrade, as he wants to use PhysX. I guess 660Ti is the better choice for that. And we got i5 3470, as we noticed that S version is basically a 'power saver' version of the CPU.

The only dillemma we have still is with DIMM sticks not fitting :D. I guess we'll call the suplyer and ask about it!
