Help with Fresh install of 8.1

I am running windows 8.1, booting from a 60gb ssd, i just purchased a 250gb samsung ssd. I want to do a clean install of windows 8.1. How do I do this? I have been having trouble and can not figure it out. if I put in the windows 8 install disc and go to pc settings and under the recovery options I chose to remove all files and reninstall windows it tells me I am missing windows files and need to insert the installation media.... I cant even choose the refresh option it gives me the same msg. any help would be awesome thanks in advance

I am assuming that unhooking your old drive and just hooking up new drive will do the trick . Also in bios ( or what ever they call it now ) make sure you select the new drive as your boot drive . A fresh install of win 8 then update with windows update .Last being upgrade to 8.1 in the app store .Just a guess .

I tried that but my windows code wont work it for some reason said it was blocked

Go to windows activation , Call the 800 number and follow the directions . When asked how many computers is your copy of windows is install on ( state 1 ) and enter the activation code . If that doesnt work contact ms or buy a new OS . You may also be able to migrate your old os from your old ssd along as you have not damaged the files in a pinch . Not completely sure what you have done to your old disk.

Why not just clone your old drive? You can use free software like http://www.disk-partition.com/free-partition-manager.html . Then just use the migrate feature once you have the new drive connected via usb, etc to your computer.

Thank you , theres the easy solution
