Hey people, well im trying to run My Radeon 5770 and 6770 together, and after searching online i came across charts saying i didnt need a bridge if i used the 5770 as the primary, now ive done this and its not alowing me to enable corssfire from within windows, my motherboard is the Asus M5A97 R2 any help would be great. Thanks.
You have to use the same type of card.. Either two 5770's or 6770's
First off these will crossfire. A 6770 is a 5770 with "unlocked" features but the 6770 HAS TO BE THE PRIMARY CARD! Also, you always need a crossfire bridge connector or they won't know to work together.
o.. I did not know that.. you learn something new everyday..
It's all good haha any other time you would be correct on this... other cards amongst the series don't typically crossfire with each other. This is just a rare instance.
Thanks for the help guys, so i guess its to amazon to order a bridge, WHY DONT THESE CARDS COME WITH THEM!!! LoL
the funny thing is... the 5770 runs better then the 6770 0.o
The bridges usually come with either the mobo or the higher end gpu's. Not sure, but all my cards have had a bridge.
Should he not use the 5770 as the main card. I thought it was better to have a slower primary that way the secondary doesnt lag the system. If the better card is the primary the secondary lags it when it trys to run, while the 6770 wont lag a 5770.
Nope... this is specific to this particular crossfire setup. The 6770 being the primary card is what allows it to even work with the 5770. In general though from the multiple crossfire setups I've done I usually keep the better card in the primary slot. Good example: 6990 w/ a 6950.
