Help with cpu fan install

Hey i have the noobiest question ever.

I've got an asrock 970 extreme 3 motherboard and i just bought a amd phenom 965 processor to go with it...

that's not the hard part, i'm trying to install the cpu fan heatsink and it's not going down properly...

Is it a possibility that the stock heatsink is incompatable with the asrock mobo??

Because i've installed cpu heatsinks before and nothing has been as complicated as installing it on this motherboard

If this is a stock heatsink it should be pretty easy. Clip in one side and then the other and push down the lever. I will tell you that sometimes you need a lot of pressure to snap it into place. Just be careful but firm. AMD hasn't switch the mount for a long time now so it will fit unless it is defective.
