Help with Choppy video

Hello,
I hope this is the right forum but I am having an issue with choppy video when recording.

I will tell you how it began. I use sony vegas to edit my videos and for a long time I had been using fraps to record videos. I messed up vegas while playing with add ons and ended up having to re-install it. It would no longer accept the avi's that fraps was outputting. I couldn't remember how I fixed it the first time so I updated vegas and still no joy. I then decided that I would download some codecs!

After several failed attempts I decided to remove all the new codecs and would try some other software for recording. I used several trials and tested a few out. I settled on playclaw 5 as it output in the right format and seemed to be good. I then bought the full version and the video was choppy. I updated it and the video was choppy. I went back to the trials of other software and the video was choppy, even DXtory produced choppy video. I tried to play the video in lots of different players and it is choppy.

I gave up and went to bed. The next day I turned on my computer and it booted to the windows screen as fast as usual and then then screen went blank, after about a minute it booted into windows and 360 total security popped up saying that it took 25 seconds to boot the computer.

Programs seem to be taking a lot longer to load, even those on the SSD and recorded video using any recorder is choppy. The frame rates drop lower when recording than they used to and the video is poor. In game I see no issue, yet the video is choppy.

If I watch movies or tv it is fine but any game footage I record is choppy. I don't know where to start looking. I have uninstalled anything I thought could cause the issue, I remove programs with Revo Uninstaller Pro, I have removed all the software that added its own codecs such as bandicam then fraps etc but the issue persists.

I really don't even know where to begin solving the problem so if you can help please let me know where to start looking or even how to solve the issue.

Thanks for looking
