Help with anonymously browsing the web at work

I mainly just want to watch some youtube without my boss knowing. I can hide the screen pretty well but he monitors the firewall sometimes.I believe we use watchguard as our firewall boxes. Apparently it will display websites and how much traffic it gets with our internal IP's attached to it. I'm not a slacker by any means, I always stop everything and do work when there is work. keyword "when". I don't always have something to do. I have domain admin privileges but I don't have access to the firewall. what are some options? right now I'm just teamviewer'd in to my home laptop. But I prob can't use too much teamviewer before getting caught. I can't use a vpn out because I need to connect locally to some machines here at work sometimes.

Maybe your router supports being a VPN, then you would "phone home" and your router would get you the sites you request.

I think your only real option is to use your own data on a mobile connection. A VPN solution would be the same as teamviewer essentially, you'd be noticed eventually.

I'm hard wired to the work network. Altho it is a laptop and I do have a (super slow) un-monitored wifi router. It's so slow that it is un usable. I do have the option to use my phone, but in a moments notice its hard to switch from wire to wireless. Maybe I can set up a batch file or other simple button that can do the switch really fast for me.

I guess I can. There are 2 major downsides to that. One being I have 20gb of data per month until its throttled. Secondly it's hard to switch from that to being hard wired on the network for when I do need to be working in a moments notice.

If this is something that can end up making you lose your job for... it ain't worth it.

Nonono!
Your router at home will work as that while staying where it is.
In the browser you use, there is a network tab, Proxy settings. Your home is your proxy!

nah, its not like that. Mostly what I do is project based. As long as I still complete my job I'm fine. Like I said, I still drop everything and work when there is work.

oh my, this sounds simple altho I have no idea how to do this. Thanks! I'm gonna google this

Opera browser with VPN turned on!?

If it's that intense, don't forget that your employer can run software, internal hardware, and even usb keyloggers to monitor you. They can then use the information to terminate you for any reason from being too pricey to some transgression, to some personal problem. Unless you're the IT guy, don't use their network or trust them.

nah its not that intense. If he wanted to implement that kind of monitoring I'd be the one to do it and also there aren't really enough employees for that to even makes sense.

Maybe you should just work while at work. And if your boss is monitoring you to have you worried over youtube just get a job that is not shitty.

If that's the case, having YouTube playing in the background shouldn't be an issue. :)

But it seems to be, so I would agree with @Big_Al_Tech with this one.

VPN would be the easiest way technically.
But yeah they are probably able to see that aswell if not blocked allready.

VPN, Tor, virtual machine, and spoof EVERYTHING! Is it even worth all this for Youtube though?

ah, a virtual machine running a VPN could do the trick by itself. and eh, yea better than just staring at email waiting for a support ticket

Yep, I feel that boredom.

Just an fyi, the sneakier you try to be the more suspicion you are going to put on yourself, and if you get nailed they will probably think you were doing more than watching youtube videos.
