Help troubleshooting nvidia optimus power issue

Hey y'all, I have a Clevo W230SS laptop, which comes equipped with a Maxwell GTX 860M. I also opted to get an Intel Core i7 4810MQ, and the integrated HD4600 graphics seems to be adequate for certain games, such as the Sims 3, which is the biggest game I play on the go. With that said, I would like the solely use the iGPU when on battery power; despite Maxwell being pretty darn efficient, it's hard to be the iGPU on the same die as the CPU in terms of power. I've already configured some of my lighter games, such as Minecraft and Sims to run off the iGPU via nvidia control panel, but the GPU activity icon seems to indicate the dedicated GPU is still powered on, despite not being in use. The applet (?) use to gray out, presumably indicating the GPU was powered off, but recently it's always fully colored, even when idle on the desktop off a fresh boot, which indicates the GPU is powered on, even when NOT gaming.

Could anyone help me out on getting that dedicated GPU on not being such a power leech? It just sits idle sucking power for no reason.

Here is a screen shot with two instances of GPU-z running (monitoring each GPU) to help illustrate my issue:
