Help to choose motherboard for new pc

Hi everyone!

I need some help choosing motherboard for my new gaming pc.

Points to consider:

  • I have ATX case
  • should be LGA 1150
  • I will not overclock
  • i will not crossfire
  • limited budget
  • could use few usb3 and usb2 ports
  • right now i have 4 140mm case fans installed

The idea is to cranck as much budget to cpu and gpu as possible and get good but cheap other parts.

Right now i have chosen:

  • (already have on old pc) 120GB Kingston SSD
  • Gigabyte r9 290 - the cheapest one
  • i5 4670
  • 1TB regular HDD
  • 2 x 4GB Kingston RAM (speed 1600)
  • 700W Forton 80+ silver

I cant access the store right now to write specific models i chose cause its offline. Ill update when they are online.

I ordered all parts from here and the motherboard should be from here too:

https://www.1a.ee/arvutikomponendid/emaplaadid

Its Estonian page but the list and filtering on the right should be no problem to people who dont know the language.

My biggest concern is that i dont know how to choose the right motherboard that supports these parts with lowest price. I dont plan to do anything major, just gaming, surfing and coding.

Thank you for reading and will look forward your posts.

I recommend a mobo from a good quality manufacturer, like ASUS, MSI, Gigabyte. if you don't want to overclock you good to go with a H97 chipset, or the older series H87/Z87 (falling in price).

  • MSI H97 Gaming 3
  • ASUS H97-PLUS
  • Gigabyte GA-Z87-HD3

I think that's the best you're going to find. 1 16x PCIe, Sata 3.0 for the SSD, and a USB 3.0 header. All with the LGA 1150 socket (it says compatible with i5 4th gen in specs)

If you want to go cheaper you can get one without a USB 3.0 header, usually about a 10 dollar difference.

Thank you.

QuellText choices cost more than i am willing to pay for motherboard.

How about this one?

http://www.1a.ee/msi_h87g41_pc_mate

Its reasonable priced 63.59 € and has a bit more room for improvement in future.

This price range does not include pci express 3.0?

Is there a big perfomance difference of chipsets b85 and H87?

This is my shoppingcart right now:

https://www.1a.ee/order/shopping_cart?content=M7S0MDexMrQ2MrS0BNHmJpYWxiDa3MDcEEgDZS0gtIWBEZAGAA%3D%3D

That motherboard looks just fine.  However, looking at your shopping cart, you have:

Intel® Core™ i5-4670K 3.4GHz 6MB LGA1150 BX80646I54670K

Woops that came out huge.

The -K CPUs are for overclocking.  If you aren't overclocking, go with something like an i5-4670 or i5-4690.  Save a couple bucks.

Thanks, yeah i saw that K thing but the store dont have same cpu without K, so i chose it.
