Hey all
My friend wants me to look into building a streaming and gaming PC with a budget of £1000, but he said he can stretch to £1500. I could right here and now set up an intel build as I'm familiar with the components. However, I've seen the a couple of TekSyndicate videos in the past saying that AMD machines beat the intel chips in a lot of cases whilst streaming (presumably due to more cores). The issue is, I don't know a huge amount about the AMD processors and motherboards. I wouldn't know what would be considered the intel 'competitor' chips, and what motherboards go with what chips.
If someone could educate me, or better yet, throw together a quick build I could tweak myself, that would be great. I'll be able to give him a choice of intel or AMD and tell him the pros and cons.
Thanks guys :)
The AMD FX series is what you'll want to look at, specifically the 83xx chips. The advantage they offer over the comparable Intel solution is primarily that they beat the Intel chips in price to performance. The go to CPU is the 8350 and at $180 its a great buy, however the 8320 will overclock to the same performance with minimal effort and cost only $140. Either is a good buy.
All the FX series chips utilize socket AM3+ for which motherboards are made buy all the same manufacturers as the makers of the Intel based boards.
I recommend:
8350
msi 970 gaming/sabertooth 990fx/Crosshair v formula-z
The case is up to you
I can see 16gb in your future
high cap. hard drives
a very reliable ssd
maybe a mid range cpu cooler etc
for that budget, i would recommend an i7-4790K setup realy.
Better for gaming and streaming.

you could offcourse cheap out on some things offcourse like cheaper mobo, and cheaper cooler. thats up to you.
i did some color matching.
FX8350 is offcourse also still a great chip for streaming, but since his buget is high enough, i think it would be more worth it, to get intel realy. Because in games that are cpu + gpu bound, the intel 4790K will just pull ahead on the FX´s.
In games like Skyrim, Metro, Watchdogs for example.
This offcourse does not mean that the FX cpu´s are bad, because they still are great. However the unlocked haswell cpu´s are just better, in a wider spectrum of games.
