Help: Screen goes black for a second then comes back on

System Info:

AMD FX 8350 @ 4.6GHz

Asus Sabertooth 990fx r2.0

Asus HD 7970 Direct CU II Top

Corsair CX 750

Monitor: Benq E2200HD (3 yrs old)

Driver: Catalyst 13.4

My graphics card has Display Port slots and DVI slots so I'm using HDMI to DVI cable to plug the monitor to the gpu.

Every 10-15 minutes my screen no matter what I do, gaming, watching video, plain surfing, gpu overclocked, not overclocked I get the same black screen issue that just happens for a second and then ends quickly with no driver failures. I am trying to find the root cause of this issue but so far I couldn't come up with anything.

1) Temperatures are okay, gpu doesn't exceed critical levels whatsoever, idle 30 degrees with 1125 mhz overclock, at most 55 at full load (thanks direcu ii cooling)

2) Some told me that it may be an issue to the passive HDMI to DVI cable I'm using that there may be problems with sending data between cables.

Thanks for your help

From what it sounds like it is most likely the DVI to HDMI converter. HDMI uses a different encoding set from DVI so I think that's where your problem lies. If it is the converter then you wont reallly have anything to worry about, just a minor annoyance.
