Hey,
I had a lot of problems with cold boot / general boot on my new x670 platform.
My failed boots look like:
I power up, ASUS board checks ram, gpu, gpu (3 q-leds flashing one after another), then the fourth should light up (either yellow or green for boot) but nothing happens. PC stays running but frozen in between the checking and booting.
After a lot of fiddling with the hardware, stripping my PC, testing everything I came into a point, where I kind of focused on GPU / Mobo relation. However the issue isn’t so obvious.
As you can see on the image above, I did some diligent testing that took me a few days and here is the outcome that surprised me.
IMPORTANT:
- My DP Cables are VESA cartified = do not have 20th pin wired.
- I do not have the latest BIOS on my mobo. I run rev 2007, since I found the latest to be even less stable in terms of this boot issue.
As you can see, my pc boots up with no problem only, when one of my displays is plugged into HDMI (I know it’s a bit early to say, because now I am testing the other display via HDMI, but it’s ok so far).
The question is, if such a behaviour implies the GPU being faulty / it’s firmware problem or just a conflict between GPU and MOBO? Or maybe there are some BIOS Settings that will get me out of this misery?
