Help picking a monitor

Hi all, I recently built a new pc but never bought a new monitor. My pc is a z87 sabertooth mobo, intel 4770k CPU, and a xfx r9 280x gpu. I want a monitor that will compliment my pc but after building I'm short on money. So I would like it to be less than $270 and somewhere around 25-28". If I had to spend more to get a significantly better product I would but I need to keep it cheap. Thanks in advance

http://pcpartpicker.com/part/asus-monitor-vg248qe Its a TN panel so you get very fast response times and this panel in particular has a very, very high refresh rate at 144hz. Down sides are the normal TN stuff so not great viewing angles and not very good color reproduction.

http://pcpartpicker.com/part/asus-monitor-mx279h This is a ips panel so you get very good color representation and very rich, deep colors. It also has very good viewing angles compared to TN panels. The downsides would be a longer response time.

I think I would rather have viewing angle and color over response time but do you think the response time of the asus mx279h would be a deal breaker? Also I know this will sound crazy but do they make it in black?

i don't have this model of monitor but i do have a 140 hz monitor from benq. i have eye glasses and i needed a monitor that did not have flickering but still could pay games on. the monitor i listed is one i am looking to get as it has low blue light feature. this one dos have a 1ms responce time but it is only 60hz.

I really like the asus mx279h BUT my gpu has mini display port and dual link dvi and hdmi. I would hate to handicap my gpu by using hdmi which is what the mx seems to want since its dvi is single link. I like the specs of the Ben q but its a little small, is it ips or tn? Not sure if led is something different?

duel link dvi is both audio and video single is for digital, and i had asked questions on dvi vs hdmi in the past. there both the same thing with few differences. the monitor is led if i remember right.

I know that in my scenario my monitor is going to be the limiting factor on the graphics side, but I think that dual link dvi and display port can handle more data transmission than hdmi can handle, idk not sure

I don't think the response time should be a deal breaker. A lot of people play that response time with no problem. Its really not a huge difference. And sadly thats the only way Asus makes that monitor. There are some alternatives with identical specs, I'll update with a couple.

LED is just the backlighting.

That BenQ looks like a TN panel, as no IPS/PLS panel has a response time of 1ms.
