Help me with my CPU choice :)

Hello all.

Now, I am in the process of picking and choosing what will end up in my PC.

I have the case, Cooler Master Storm Enforcer.

I have the PSU, Corsair AX 760i.

I have some of the hard drives, WD Black caviar 1TB times 2.

And that's where I get stuck. I need to decide what CPU so I can move forward from here. I've narrowed it down to the AMD FX-8320 and the AMD FX-8350. Now they are both in my budget, and with the savings I would get from the 8320 I would be able to buy a beefier GPU.

I'm leaning more toward the 8350, purely because of the extra wanker points I'd get. And I can wait a while and save a bit more monies and buy a better GPU a little later on. And no I do not want a haswell, and I am fairly sure I don't want a 3750K. Any other suggestions or input on where I'm going with this would be great.

Also my budget for the CPU is $250 max, in australia that won't give me much change if I go with the 8350..

Cheers guys.

If you are not as concerned with overclocking I'd get the 8320. From what I here it is not hard to reach 4.5Ghz with a 8320 but if you want to hit 4.8Ghz or 5Ghz it would help to have the higher binned 8350. I have an 8350 and I easily hit 4.8Ghz with 1.44v and 5Ghz with 1.525v

Seems you've already made up your mind in terms of what CPU you want. The decision you have to make now is; to wait and get both a stronger GPU and CPU or buy now and get a stronger GPU and slightly weaker CPU. The best answer is the former, of course, but the real questions is; do you have the will-power to wait? ;)

Will power never was my strong point, that's why I have an ex girlfriend. And yeah even writing this down has made me realise that i probably do want to go with the 8350. The reason I'm not too keen on Haswell is they are pretty pricey here in Aus, and by the end of the process I'll be using it for 60% gaming(I stream a bit) and 40% general workstation stuff. From what I've researched and from what the cult of Logan has taught me, the 8350 would be a safe bet for the price. And I yeah I would be looking to overclock.

Self realisation I think this is called. Cheers guys :)

Although you've made up your mind on this matter, I felt the need to post.

"purely because of the extra wanker points I'd get" This made my day. I love you for writing this.

Oh, get the 8350 OCs much better and you want all the wanker points you can get.

hahaha I find wanker points are like brownie points for when you want to impress ignorant people.

Thinking about it more I'll probably go with the 8350. Choosing my heart over my head, that's how I ended up with the case and PSU, not the smartest options, but they're what I wanted more than anything else. Probably going to bite me in the ass later on, but for now, I'm a happy chappy.
