Help me pick a new PSU (list with prices included)

I made a thread here, about my PC randomly freezing: Here

It's been recommended that I upgrade my PSU. I don't have a lot of cash to spare but I certainly don't want to endanger any of my current PC parts by using a bad PSU.

I've done a few PSU calculators and the recommended watts are 350-450. I believe it's closer to 450W.

I've used PCPartPicker and Newegg to get a list of ones that I thought might work. I think everything is rated 4 eggs and up. If all brands are equal, I'd like to get the XFX 550. If 550W isn't enough then I'd like to get the Corsair 750 or the Thermaltake 750 Gold. Let me know what you think!

Discounts and rebates are include in the prices.

but after reading your post I would suspect that the ssd has crashed. How do you have your sdd's setup? and to which was the massive file too?

Do they have smart enabled? does it show any problems? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/S.M.A.R.T.

Thank you very much for the suggestions!

The SSD's are just drive C and D. The massive file was a OBS screen capture I had forgot about, and left running.

I'm not sure if they have smart enabled. I'm hesitant to turn the PC back on until I gather a little more feedback.

I've updated the other thread in more detail if you would like to take a look.

Thanks!

Yep, your apevia power supply is pretty crappy. The XFX @Urworstnit3m3r recommended is quite good.

Out of your list, I would also pick:
XFX TS 550w
EVGA 750 B2
XFX Core Edition Pro750w
EVGA 850 B2.

650w is a good pick though, as 550w might be pushing it once you do a GPU upgrade.

Thank you for the suggestions!

Anything listed in tier one that is fully modular and at least 650 watts should work fantastically for you. I highly recommend picking up a PSU that is Seasonic or Supeflower OEM such as the EVGA G2 series.
