Can anybody help me make this cheaper? Or optimize this in any way. I would like the price to be around $600 with close to the same performance. Obviously a cheaper HDD would help, any other ideas?
Thanks! :)

Do you really need the 8 core CPU?
Otherwise you could easily ditch the DVD drive and thermal paste.
You could get an R9 280 instead which is nearly 150 atm I think
And then you may want to consider a better PSU and a bit nicer case.
And are they like trying to get rid of those hard drives because that is cheap for 2tb.
And what resolution are you gaming at? Do you need peripherals?
And this would be a better motherboard, it has a newer chipset

good on peripherals, case aesthetic doesnt matter to me. It IS cheap for 2TB, and has good reviews. I need DVD drive, maybe cheaper one. I will update the list. Recommendations for a PSU?
Peripherals are fine, and I have an old HD monitor, so I game at 1680x1050 (but want the option for 1920x1080) maximum.
Here it is updated: http://pcpartpicker.com/p/q9T3GX
Thanks!
p.s.
Compatability issues: ASRock 970M PRO3 Micro ATX AM3+/AM3 Motherboard has an onboard USB 3.0 header, but the Apex SK-393-C ATX Mid Tower Case does not have front panel USB 3.0 ports.
Some AMD 970 chipset motherboards may need a BIOS update prior to using Vishera CPUs.
Unable to verify the Apex SK-393-C ATX Mid Tower Case and the Cooler Master Hyper 212 Plus 76.8 CFM Sleeve Bearing CPU Cooler are compatible.
Well if you don't really need the 8 core CPU you could for way cheaper for that resolution and just get an APU build, which you could throw a graphics card in later.
This power supply isn't much more and is fully modular with 550W

The compatibility thing just means your case has no USB 3.0.
It's not really an aesthetic thing it's more of a function thing, check out the Coolermaster N200, it's a pretty nice micro ATX case and it's cheap. Really low end cases can just be a bitch to work in.
But ya I'd definitely recommend you just get an APU build going, it'll be fine for the resolution you'll be gaming and be a lot cheaper.
i would switch out the cpu for a cheaper one unless you are doing video rendering or editing
Ya same as everyone else if you don't need 8 core or your just using it for gaming then go with a cheeper cpu like the AMD 860k if you need 8 core's you could opt for and 8320.
if we could get this build down at all, I would be a happy person (:

Thanks!
(I went away from the idea of an APU build as I want to upgrade my monitor ASAP, in about 15 paychecks from now XD)
it's not an APU build. it's an athlon build. but it has a good GPU. the Mini ITX board has built in Wi-Fi so you don't need a Wi-Fi adapter. you can add in the disc drive, and the two fans or whatever and it will be at 600 bucks.
I don't have any spare fans, maybe you noticed this is my first build.
I don't want an APU build ATM.
Any recommendations to make it better around this price point, or the same for lower? Thanks!
http://pcpartpicker.com/user/Freaksamcker/saved/YnJXsY or a amd build http://pcpartpicker.com/user/Freaksamcker/saved/DtBH99
A little over the price point.. This is the build I am working on here: http://pcpartpicker.com/p/9McPTW
Thanks!
http://pcpartpicker.com/user/Freaksamcker/saved/LhJXsY Yes you can use a h 81 mb if you wish. Depends on what features are important to you. I usually lean towards newer mb and older gpu then a older mb and newer gpu when budget is tight.
Alright. Thank you all for ideas. Have a good Day/Night/Evening!
The Coolermaster T4 should be cheaper and is actually pretty damn good. Get two 4gb sticks of cheap ass Newegg (G.skill usually is the cheapest) 1600mhz RAM. You're not going to notice a performance dip from that. If you are only playing 1080p, and you don't have a GSync monitor, then get an r9 270x 3GB card. You can probably save $70 on that and it's a great card for 1080p gaming.
It seems people have already brought up the fact that an 8-core CPU may be overkill. This is true right now, but multi-core utilization is only going to increase. The i5 is definitely a more muscular chip when it comes to single-threaded performance, and it's right around the same price point as AMD's higher end offerings, so if you're just gaming it's a good choice.
Depending on what games you play, you could try a superclocked FX-6300. You can get it for $80 + $60 motherboard, so consider it this way, you're going to save almost $150. That means you can get a beast GPU, then upgrade your CPU later, and you're only going to have a 5-10FPS difference in the meantime, in most games.
Best of luck.
8320 paired with a 960 for $606
http://pcpartpicker.com/user/Dalekhunter/saved/Z8knTW
I basically had to change everything,
8350 --> 8320
same 960
Saved money form optical upgraded the MOBO and Power supply
Changed the Hitachi to a WD Blue saved $10,
Changed ram to Kingston saved $10
Total $606
Not that is an optimized build
http://pcpartpicker.com/p/9gqXzy - i5, 8gb ram, same 2tb hdd, same optical drive, fractal case, xfx (seasonic psu), r9 280 gpu, cheaper pcie wifi adapter. $600 after rebates.
~ original build 8 core FX cpu + that uber low end board = fire hazard.
