HELP: Major Issues when Transferring Windows 10 to m.2 for first time on new PC

Help, I am 24 hours of physical work time sunk in to getting my PC up and running.

Ryzen 9 7900X
ASUS ROG STRIX X670E-E
Corsair Dominator Platinum DDR5-6000 (2x16GB)
ASUS ROG STRIX 3070TI
EVGA 1000W Platinum PSU

I was finally able to kinda get my PC running off my old SATA SSD (Samsung 890 500GB.) I was having black screens of death when trying to swap between accounts… I moved on to trying to move my OS over to my new NVME m.2 (Samsung 980 500GB) when the major issues started. I created a windows install media on a USB and unplugged all of additional storage devices on my computer. I used BIOS to boot the install media and begin the install. Once it was installed, I was able to get in to the Admin dummy account on my computer that has no password. When I tried to swap to my main account I get a black screen of death and have to force shut down the computer to make the account change. Once I got in to the my main account I reconnected all of my storage devices and the system booted to the old SSD even though the Boot Order in BIOS was set to boot to the m.2 where the new version of windows was. When I restarted the computer, I no longer was getting the ROG loading screen when loading to the desktop. It had gone back to getting the ROG screen for the bios entry then straight windows logo with the spinning wheel. Once logged in, the mouse curser has the blue loading circle flashing on and off constantly.

I tried unplugging all devices, clearing my CMOS, and going back in to BIOS to check all my settings. I made sure I am not overclocking anything (I am underclocking RAM by default to 4800.) I turned CSM to enabled to allow the system to detect the m.2 device and restarted the PC. The system loaded to the desktop, but I am still getting the blue loading ring flashing and still get a black screen of death when trying to swap accounts. The only drive currently connected is the m.2.

My next step was to reset windows from the cloud thinking I had a corrupted windows install. This failed in the middle of operations.

I am at my wits end. I am not the most tech savvy person. This is my second computer to ever build. I don’t know what else to do or to try… This build has already seen the RMA of RAM and the first MOBO I ordered at the recommendation of ASUS support. The RAM I am currently running is listed as compatible on the ASUS website with my MOBO and Ryzen 7000 series CPUs.

Anyone have any advice or suggestions? Mounting on everything has been checked and is good. Also, to remember, the system was running fine on my SATA SSD (Samsung 890) until I tried to migrate the Windows 10 OS to me NVMe m.2 (Samsung 980).

if you have another pc.
download a windows image file from the windows repo.
put it on a dump stick with something like rufus.

boot into bios. select your dump stick as your boot device and start the install to your nvme.
create a microsoft account (or look up a bypass to get a local account)
once done.
reboot.
log into your user/admin (not the admin admin) and create a guest account.
log out of your user admin.
log into the guest account.
at this point the screen will go black. after a little while you should then see the windows setting up messages you saw when you created your user/admin account.

your likey trying to mount an existing o.s from an old system that contains different firmware than is needed by the new system…
so you need a fresh install.
after that migrate your personal files over from the ssd.

I’m not concerned about saving anything from my old system so I wasn’t worried about imagining anything. But I don’t have another PC that I can use to make an image of windows currently

I just created a windows installation media from windows and reinstalled windows while keeping nothing on the NVMe.

And as I was typing this, the computer just failed while trying to make a new account and restarted.

Edit: once it started it did the “ask who is using this pc.” I went through all that and immediately got black screened.

To my understanding, I am doing a fresh install each time and getting the same result…

This is my stupid inexperienced question to you….

Would doing something like using a friends computer to get a windows installation media from the internet onto a USB potentially fix it? Is that what you mean? I could probably do that.

Is there anything I need to do to the current NVMe before trying to install again?

Thanks man. I’ll try to get someone local to make me a new install image.

Got a fresh version of windows from a friend. It did install better.

First time I tried to restart it crashed with error. First time trying to log in to my other account black screen of death. Maybe it’s hardware….

hmm this black screen…
do you have 2 monitors attached to your pc? are both on? if not switch em both on.
it maybe that when your switching accounts its switching to the other screen?.

or is it a black screen, buzzing? through the audio. if so try going into bios and enabling hpet if its disabled.

or is there a black screen and windows appears to be doing nothing? check your drive light. if its constantly flashing windows is doing something. if its intermittent 1s every few seconds its likely crashed.
if its crashed then you want to enable logging via windows boot menu.

Only one monitor. Don’t have any audio set us as I’m laid out like a test bench currently… I’ll grab my headphones and see.

If that’s not it, then I’ll do some google searching and find how to turn on logging.

Computer is not crashing. If I let the system go to sleep, I can wake it back up and it’s at the log in screen and I can switch between account. It only goes black when I am logged in to one of the accounts, and try to click on the name of the other account to switch or click switch account.

Locking works fine. Clicking it and windows+L.

I just got another blue screen crash with a reference saying MEMORY_MANAGEMENT

only goes black after a while?
check and see if the screen saver is enabled.
if it is. either turn it off or move the mouse the next time the screen goes black.

yeah thats probably your memory, leave that for now. sort the first problem.

Goes black immediately after i select “switch account.” Screen saver is off.

Did some more digging. When I get the black screen it is gives me Q-Code LED 50-53 (memory initialization error. Invalid memory type or incompatible memory speed) then it settles on Q-Code 32-36 (CPU Post Memory initialization).

then you need to post the specs of your system.
the cpu
the ram its speed and latency
the motherboard.
