I have my mac pro that I want to use for editing. My spare cards available are a Nvidia 9800 GT and an XFX R7 250X. I know for a fact that I can use non-apple cards and I have used my XFX R7 370 in this machine as well (its being used in my streaming machine though). What I need to know is if there is a kext I need to install or if there is a firmware i need to put into my gpu because when I plug the 250X in and let it cycle and register the new hardware into the machine it will boot but not use the card.
I have been told that it has to do with XFX cards in general but I doubt that as my 370 works fine.
i think I'll just have to buy a card but I am hoping that I can use my 250X so that I won't have to buy anything.
