HELP! Intel dual band Wireless-ac 7260 problem

Hey guys, I recently bought a Lenovo y50-70 (the 1080p one not the 4k). For some reason its wifi really sucks, It has an intel dual band Wireless-ac 7260 running on windows 8.1 and from what ive read trough my weak google searching skills it seams that some people have had the same problem. I’ve tried installing the drivers again, changing the the frequency from 2.4 Ghz to 5.4 Ghz and it doesnt seam to fix anything. I was wondering if anyone from here has any idea how to fix this. If not maybe give me some insight on whether the wifi card is replaceable on this laptop and with what card should I replace it with.

Could you give us some information about your network setup? What access point (router) are you using? What environment are you in (i.e. large home, apartment, etc)? Are your wired speeds good?

I'd suggest finding a free version of inSSIDer. Its a simple network analyzer that will give you useful information about your surrounding wifi spectrum, including which channels (frequencies) are "cleaner" than others, the signal strength of your access point in relation to your mobile device, and the wifi broadcast mode being used (i.e. 802.11 a,b,g,n,ac).

The more details, the better when debugging wifi-related issues.

Is there a lot of wifi signals? The wifi performance can degrade when there is a lot of competing APs.

My internet is a tad bit slower on the 7260 while running Linux. I got normal speeds when running ChromeOS though. It only seems to slow down when I'm on a wireless B or G network. Everything else is normal.

Well b/g is pretty oldschool at this point. N data rates will give you significant boosts unless the speeds you are getting from your ISP are an issue. You wouldnt want to be using a b/g access point with a wifi card that supports ac as you wouldnt be optimizing things at all.

I have DSL, so I have no need for AC haha. Don't have much need for transferring files over my home network either.
