Help in finding/hacking a Wifi access point

Hi

I am hear on behalf of a friend, there family is not the best when it comes to tek.
As a result they have managed to make a Wifi access point, have forgotten where it is, and dont know the password.

yes the whole nine yards.

So, i have a Nexus 5 and several laptops at my disposal, is there a way to find the router(to reset it) or to crack the password(bare in mind no body is/will be on it also).

Thanks

EDIT: Also if it is relative we have 2 powerful PC's

You could use wifi analyzer to find the room where it is the search the room for the roughter. Ounce found use a pin to press the reset button, you can then log in to it using the default settings.

Lol they forgot where the router was. ... Really. .. I mean really.

Watch out for barking dogs and wear dark clothing.

As far as getting the key goes try booting Kali linux and go from there with the following commands:

airmon-ng start wlan0

airodump -i mon0 # find the MAC of the AP and the channel number

reaver -b XX:XX:XX:XX:XX:XX -c [chan number] -i mon0 -v

That should do it if the AP is  on WPA/WPA2 with enabled WPS

Yes I know.

Or more I don't know how they could even

If you're running airmon already, you can see the signal strength in db and hunt it out that way. I've used this to find access points at troubleshooting locations. (Always handy to keep a BT5 R3 cd with you :)
