So I want to replace my C920 with a better camera and I want to be able to feed it directly into my computer. I assume a capture card/camera setup is the way to go (had a chat with GassyMexican and that is his setup so I know it can work). What he uses is a little bit too expensive though.
So, let's say $300-$400 or so.. what is a good combo? It needs to be 1080p 30 FPS minimum.
Ideas?
The best combination would be a HDMI capture card (like Blackmagic Intensity Pro - i got a used one for $100 on ebay, new is 200) and a camera with hdmi output. You can probably get a handycam format camera thats pretty decent, or go for one of those dslr/mirrorless. I have no idea on the models that would fit your budget, but i would expect you would go over that budget by a bit, but the quality should be much better than any webcam.
Or you could look at USB3.0 cameras. No idea if there are any good ones, but it would probably fit that budget better, since HDMI capture is generally prices for that target budget.
Logan does his show using HDMI capture + GH4 if i am not mistaken.
Well, let's slap the budget up to $500 .. What do you think I could get? Let's say $200 on the black magic, what can I get for $300 as far as cameras are concerned?
You can get an ok camcorder, for less if you are willing to buy used ones. The most important thing is hdmi connectivity. You would also want to look up other forums that talk about which camera gets clean hdmi output (no overlay graphics).
