[Help] HTML5 Youtube Suppot in Fedora

Hello guys I recently switched to Fedora from windows. One issue that I just recently found is that some youtube videos I get the error "Your browser does not currently recognize any of the video formats available ", which leads to this page:

Is there a way to solve this and keep using firefox.
Thanks for all the help you guys.

Found this.

Seems that the libs needed to play html5 video are not present in Fedora due to licensing, whereas other distros include this out the box (Ubuntu).

Seems like you need to enable the rpmfusion repo and download the ffmpeg-libs package.

Take this with a grain of salt though, I’m not a fedora guy.

Did you use the rpm fusion repo?

It’s unfortunate but just the way some of these codecs are. A downside of patent encumbered software.

(There’s a list on here somewhere of all the codecs needed for all the stuffs)

Glad it worked!

And I use Ubuntu.

Sorry but im not sure what rpm fusion repo is.

RPMFusion is a long term standing extra repository that does not follow the license limitations of patented software. (It also has free portion that still follows those limitations). This does not mean piracy, but rather personal responsibility.

So if you need something like these codecs or VLC or MPlayer it is good to set it up.
