Skyrim and KSP keep crashing randomly and i don't know why.
I have had a lot of problems getting this computer to work right as it is. Now i have finally got it to run but only if i restart. My computer will freeze at start or after it runs for a little then on restart will run fine. At 1st I thought it was windows 8 so i bought windows 7 but same thing. however i can run it as long as i only put it to sleep instead of shut down. i had some tec comp. look at my computer, that new egg sent me to, but they had no idea and made me feel like i was a grandma that didn't know what a computer was. They said that they would fix it, for a small fee of $100, they did some bs but when I restarted my computer a day later same thing. They said it was my fault for installing starcraft 2 again... then opened my command box and ran a bs scan and in broken English typed "reason computer crash was disk", or something like that. I was told that i would have to pay more because they had to deal me being stupid i guess and needed one of they're better guys to work on it. so here i am now with their number blocked and a computer that crashes if i turn it off and now crashes, to the desktop, on those two games. I think i have a hard ware problem but not sure, think it is my motherboard. this is my 1st time using an ssd. Also I do not run my ssd on raid because it never makes it past windows loading screen before it crashes.
windows 7 32bit - OS ecs A880GM-M& - motherboard AMD Phenom II x4 965 - CPU G skill 4gb ddr3 have 8 but only 4 works on 32 bit - ram Kingston svp2000s37a120g ata - ssd AMD Radeon HD 7950 - GPU
PS. my CPU runs about 33c to 43c my ssd runs around 25-26 and the performance test calls it an hdd PPS. runs borderlands 2 fine and starcraft.
turn off all forms of power saving on the SSD in windows (stuff like turn off HDD after x amount of min inactivity), unplug the SATA cable from the SSD but leave power connected then turn on the PC and leave it running for 30 mins, shut down the PC then plug in the SATA cable again and see if the problem persists.
see if either of those help out with the random restarts/crash's also make sure youve done the usual checks (make sure everything is connected correctly and firmly etc)
Hello Zstabler. Are you currently running a Starcraft game installed from a disk? Reason to your freeze may be a faulty installation media in the disk. I've myself had these kinds of issues with Battlefield 3 anf Call of Duty 4. Also what exactly happens when your pc crashes? For a troubleshoot order I would go: Starcraft>Viruses>GPUdrivers>Bios update and lastly I would take out those 4 Gigabytes of ram (because it may cause some malfunctions by only sitting in your DIMM slot).
By the way If bluescreen is not being displayed, I believe that your problem is not an I/O error of storage drive or a GPU. Windows kernel should be able to display a bluescreen of death if an ssd or a gpu would be malfunctioning. But if some critical part like motherboard, cpu, or system memory would malfunction, it wouldn't be able to show an error.
i did take the other 4 out. and when i re-installed startcraft i downloaded it from them instead of using disk this last time. also all my games i run is though steam now
it does have bluescreen but just for a sec. and doesn't say anything just dies one start, however when the game crashes is see the command box for a sec. and doesn't say anything then desk top.
Well i hope everything works out fine for ya now, if you get any other issues just come back and post, im sure someone here will be about to help out :)
