(HELP) Embedded ram running in dual channel

HI,

I didn't know where to put this so I figured motherboards makes the most sense.

I just got an ASUS X550LN, it has 4gb 1600mhz ddr3 embedded in the motherboard.

My question is can i run dual channel with another stick?

How can you live with only 4GB?

Even if it's single channel, get more memory.

The manual for the ASUS X550LN makes no mention regarding single or dual channel for RAM upgrades. It doesn't really matter, though, as performance differences in real world testing are negligible.  Upgrade to 8GB and enjoy.

Just an update for anyone who comes across this.

I purchased ram with the same specs as in my laptop (specifically CT51264BF160BJ) and cpu-z claims its running in dual channel mode.

That seems good to me then.

It should be in dual channel, but CPU-Z also says dual-channel for my laptop that has 2 RAM sticks- 4 & 2GB.  I don't know of a way to actually check it.
