what programm shoud i use to make a new partition for ubuntu ==> i just have one harddrive and want to use Ubuntu together with the already installed Windows
I use Gparted.
i think i didnt made it clear enougth i have windows and want to make a second partition for Ubuntu
Gparted is not for windows i think

You can use the built in windows tool to shrink the Windows partition then install Ubuntu in the now unformatted section, when you install Ubuntu you can put Grub (the bootloader) the drive and you can choose to load either Ubuntu or Windows
I know if you install ubuntu off a live disk you can use Gparted to make patritions, and since you're installing after installing windows, grub will bcome your new bootloaders.
