I have an i7-2600k, 8gb of Ram, and 2x nvidia gtx460s
why do i need to run my game on ultra low settings, and what can I do to make it run without chopping extremely bad ?
I tried to play the game aswell felt like It was running around in some kind of lightweight jam. I think its just the games engine though, in your case maybe check if some like vsync is on or your AA is turned up to high
Make sure you have latest Nvidia driver. If I remember correctly October driver updates included PS2 optimization. My laptop (GT 640M LE) runs the game robustly around 50 FPS with the lowest graphics settings and rendering slider moved to 65%.
Make sure your drivers are up to date. Disable vsync and AA, make sure your driver program (Catalyst on AMD Control panel I think on Nvidia) isn't overriding the game. The game will run slow near crowded warpgates and big battles, they have improved it greatly though.
I'm running a Phenom X6 3.2/8GB DDR3/6950-2GB and I run 40-50fps, 30-ish during heated battles. 1920x1080, everything high except lighting and shadows are at low, no fog shadows, no vsync, no ambient occlusion, render 100%.
Your problem is succenctly put is your GPU needs to be a 500 series for medium and a 600 for high, you are running 2 generations behind on a game from the requirements perspective is like Crysis when it first came out.
Turning down the shadows and lighting to low might help. I'm using a 560ti, and was only getting 35fps on medium settings. Sure enough when I turned them down, I was getting about 45-50fps.
I've been looking for solution about performance, so found just something interesting, that on some Ultra settings game runs better. http://forums.steampowered.com/forums/showthread.php?t=3029182
I'm getting in most areas 30-50fps even when there are plenty of ppl around runing, something about 20+, but headache starts when battle starts, fps drops to 15-20, in buildings it goes down to ~11 and at night it goes to 9fps. In battles game shows that CPU bottlenecking always. GPU only in open areas. Did overclocked CPU from 2.6 to 3.6, but no much difference in battles, only feels in open areas.
I guess I can't expect more from my rig, just don't laugh from it :D There was a time when the only CPU was available in the market. Thought I wil change it in few month after buying rig, but it never happened, stuck with it for about 4-5 years...
